Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass on October 3, 1962, in Athens, Greece, to father David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant, and mother Vassiliki "Voula" Papadimitriou (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou), an actress on the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. Athena, his younger sister is also a drummer. When Lee was approximately two years[4of age when his father left his family back to United States, settling in California.Lee received his first drum sticks when he was just four years old. It was the first real drum set when he was a teenager. Lee dropped out of high school to pursue a career in music, beginning with Suite 19, a L.A.-based group that was a club. He was a fan of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Cheap Trick when he was a teenager. The main influences on his drumming include John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge, Alex Van Halen and Terry Bozzio
