Personal highlights for Niykee include being selected by a scout to join Snoop on the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013, as well as writing songs despite all the turmoil of the past few years. Her songwriting routine is now an inspiring source for aspiring producers. Niykee is always listening to beats and discovers many which spark thoughts. "I'll be able to tell within the first 5 seconds if it's a good beat. Once I've an idea in my head I'll begin writing straight away." I'll sit out on my front porch and play my guitar, and then the lyrics appear and it's usually finished in just thirty minutes. Niykee has found that her experiences from her past provide an endless source of ideas. Although I don't write literally about things that have occurred to me, the trauma of my childhood and losing my sister ends being incorporated into my music she says. The music I write is shaped by it and I am able to feel the deeper meaning underneath everything. It's among the aspects that are most important for me.
